CPS Energy offers a variety of energy rebates to home owners.

Replace one of your current electric appliances with a more efficient (Energy Star-rated) appliance and it’s possible to receive a rebate on your power bill.

  1. Washers:  When you purchase and install a high-efficiency washing machine, you can pick up a $75 rebate from CPS Energy and$100 rebate on your SAWS or BexarMet bill
  2. Refrigeratorsif you replace the old unit with a new ENERGY STAR® model, CPS will give a $65-rebate.
  3. CPS Energy is offering a $100 rebate on any make or model of Gas Clothes Dryers, a $50 rebate on Gas Water Heaters – any size, make, model, both tank and tank-less – and a $50 rebate on either a Gas Cooktop or Gas Stove.
  4. Air conditioners:  Rebates for central air conditioning systems and central heat pump systems are determined by the overall seasonal energy efficiency ratio, or SEER.  Central units that qualify for a CPS Energy rebate must have a SEER rating of 15.0 or greater

CPS also offers rebates for other energy saving improvements.

  1.  Air Flow Performance RebateDuct Repair or Replacement - 25 percent, up to $1,500 per system and $2,500 per customer.  Duct Testing - 50 percent, up to $250 per system.  To qualify:  1) Pretesting must show 25% or more leakage in the duct system.  2) Post-testing of the repairs and/or replacement must show 8% or less leakage in the duct system.  3) All testing must be performed by a CPS Energy registered contractor under the Air Flow Performance Rebate Program.   
  2. Attic Insulation:  CPS Energy offers a rebate of $0.15 per square foot of attic insulation installed. The rebate amount is based on the amount of insulation actually installed over air-conditioned space and the R-rating of the insulation material.
  3. Window Solar Screens and Film:  CPS Energy offers a rebate of $0.30 per square foot installed for solar screens and film.
  4. Energy Star windowsCPS Energy is offering a rebate of $1.50 per square foot on ENERGY STAR Windows.
  5. Spray Foam Insulation:  CPS Energy offers a rebate of $0.50 per square feet of the floor plan for existing homes, if both the attic and walls are insulated at the same time.  A rebate of $0.25 per square feet of attic floor space under conditioned areas of the home is offered if only the attic is sprayed.
  6. Adding Wall Insulation to an existing home:  CPS Energy offers rebates for added wall insulation at $0.15 per square foot of treated wall area.
  7. The Green Shade Program - receive a $50 rebate per tree when you purchase a qualified tree and plant it in the right place to save on your energy bill.  This rebate is available for trees purchased from October 1, 2010 through April 1, 2011.
  8.  The “Mow Down Smog Program – this program is on hold until Spring 2011, but you could qualify for an up-to-$80 rebate by trading in your gas mower for an electric mower.
